Policies
Lessons The instructor offers musical education in piano, utilizing a comprehensive approach, with an emphasis on classical repertoire, technique, and theory. 30, 45, and 60-minute weekly lessons (except in the summer, where lessons are usually held bi-weekly) are offered based on the individual needs of the student. All lessons are private. Schedule Forms Schedule forms are sent out at the beginning of each month via email pre-populated with the student’s choice of weekday for lessons. Schedule forms must be filled out indicating the dates that month which a student will be attending lessons, and returned either via email or handed in at the first lesson of the month. Payment must accompany schedule forms for the month or no lessons will be given. If a student turns in a schedule form before the first lesson of the month and indicates they will attend lessons the first week of the month, but chooses lat minute not to attend, if 24 hour notice has been given the student is responsible for the payment for that missed lesson, and, if a applicable, a make-up will be scheduled. If 24 hour notice has not been given, no make-up lesson will be scheduled, and the student is still responsible for payment for that lesson. Fees Lessons are payable on a monthly basis, in advance, by personal check only. Lessons must be paid on or before the first lesson of each month. Please indicate on your schedule form the allotted dates you wish your child to attend lessons, and turn in your form with your monthly payment. The fees for students who terminate lessons before the end of the month, or for missed lessons, will not be refunded. Additional lessons beyond that of the normal term schedule may be provided upon request. Missed Lessons Students are allowed one make-up lesson per term, provided notification of the absence is given 24 hours in advance of the lesson day. Earlier notification is greatly appreciated. Missed lessons will be given on a make-up day later that term. A make-up lesson is a lesson that is taken on a day other than the regularly scheduled term dates and times. Scheduled lessons missed by the instructor will be made up. The only exceptions to this policy would be due to sudden illness of the student or instructor, or hazardous weather-related issues. Notification of the absence still must be made, and lessons will be made up accordingly. Music If the student requires music during the term, the student must order, pay for and pick the music up themselves. The instructor is happy to provide recommendations. Practicing A minimum of one half hour per day, approximately five days per week is normally the shortest period of time sufficient for superior lesson preparation when taking a 30-minute lesson. Practice times are normally increased in relation to increased lesson times. (eg. 45 minutes of practice per day for a 45-minute lesson, etc.) |
